Offshore Wind Operations and Maintenance

This 2-day intensive training is designed to equip professionals with a comprehensive understanding of wind farm operations & maintenance (O&M) strategy and asset management,. Participants will gain in-depth insights into the full lifecycle of a wind farm from pre-construction planning through long-term operational management, including the integration of emerging technologies.

Through expert-led sessions, real-world case studies, and interactive discussions, attendees will develop the skills needed to design and implement effective O&M strategies, manage multi-stakeholder contracts, and apply best-practice maintenance approaches across all major turbine and site components in this rapidly evolving industry.

Course Learning Objectives:

  • Explain the basics of a foundational O&M strategy for an offshore wind farm, incorporating OPEX modeling, KPI frameworks, and end-of-life planning
  • Explain the contractual structures between developers and turbine manufacturers and describe how these shape operational responsibilities on an offshore site
  • Identify common failure modes and maintenance best practices for key turbine and offshore infrastructure components across lifecycle stages (0-5, 5-15, 15+ years)
  • Identify asset management strategies and relevant subsidy frameworks to support operational decision-making
  • Compare the perspectives of developers and turbine manufacturers on O&M responsibilities, contracts, and maintenance best practices
  • Evaluate how emerging technologies, including robotics, AI, and machine learning, can be integrated into an offshore O&M strategy

Who Should Attend?

This course is a foundational to intermediate-level course. It is best suited to those building or broadening their understanding of offshore wind O&M, rather than senior professionals with deep operational expertise.

This course is ideal for professionals in the offshore wind sector, including:

  • Early- to Mid-Level Project Developers: Professionals at newer or growing developer organizations looking to understand what effective O&M planning looks like from the ground up
  • Investors & Asset Owners: Those with financial stakes in offshore wind projects who want a structured understanding of what drives operational costs, risks, and performance
  • O&M Professionals Broadening Their Scope: Technicians, engineers, or coordinators with experience in one area of O&M who want a fuller picture of the entire asset lifecycle
  • Transitioning Professionals: Those moving into offshore wind from adjacent sectors (onshore wind, oil & gas, marine, etc.) who need a solid foundation in offshore-specific O&M practice
  • Project Finance & Commercial Teams: Professionals involved in the business side of offshore wind who need operational literacy to make better-informed decisions
  • Supply Chain & Procurement Professionals: Those working with turbine manufacturers, service providers, or contractors who want to understand how their work fits into the broader O&M picture
