Course Completion & Certificate
This certificate program is currently undergoing an accreditation process to further enhance its value, allowing it to be used for job applications, promotions, and professional license renewals, such as the PE (Professional Engineer) license.
Conditions for Use of Certificates, Marks, Logos, and Designations
Authorized Use
The certificates issued by OWA represent formal acknowledgment of successful course completion and can be used by recipients for professional purposes, such as inclusion in resumes, websites, and professional portfolios. Associated marks, logos, and designation acronyms granted to certificate holders may only be used in compliance with OWA’s Branding Guidelines. These guidelines specify proper usage to maintain the brand’s integrity and ensure alignment with OWA’s mission.
Restricted Use
Certificates and associated marks/logos must not:
-Be used to misrepresent the holder’s qualifications or suggest certification, licensure, or endorsement by OWA beyond the scope of the training completed.
-Imply OWA’s involvement in projects or activities unless explicitly authorized in writing by OWA.
-Misuse of certificates, marks, or logos, including unauthorized alterations, constitutes a violation of these terms and may lead to revocation or legal action.
Expiration and Renewal
Certificates are valid for three years from the issuance date, after which holders may be required to:
-Complete renewal training or coursework to maintain their certification status.
-Follow renewal procedures outlined in OWA’s communication and policy documents.
-Renewal notifications and requirements are communicated via email to certificate holders six months prior to certificate expiration.
Revocation and Non-Transferability
Certificates are non-transferable and remain the property of OWA.
Certificates may be revoked if:
-The holder fails to meet program requirements (attendance, summative assessment) during issuance or post-issuance.
-Misrepresentation, academic dishonesty, or violations of usage terms are identified.
-Specific examples may include not being present for the minimum attendance requirements, is found to have their summative assessment taken by a third party, or a third party was given their certificate
The Director of Training and Education is the responsible party for the decision and execution of certificate revocation. They will send an email notifying the certificate owner of their revocation
Revoked certificates must be immediately removed from all public and professional materials, and the use of associated marks/logos must cease within 10 days of email notification.
Branding Guidelines
OWA provides Branding Guidelines that detail:
-Proper sizing, color, placement, and context for using marks/logos.
-Restrictions to prevent misuse or misrepresentation of OWA’s brand.
These guidelines are shared with certificate holders at the time of issuance and are accessible via OWA’s official website or upon request.
Monitoring and Enforcement
OWA actively monitors the use of certificates, marks, and logos to ensure compliance.
If misuse is detected:
-OWA contacts the certificate holder with instructions for corrective action.
-The holder may be required to remove or correct public-facing materials displaying the certificate or associated marks/logos.
-Persistent misuse may result in certificate revocation or further actions to protect OWA’s reputation and compliance with policies.
Stakeholder Communication
OWA ensures that all certificate holders and stakeholders understand the conditions of use for certificates, marks, and logos.
Communication methods include:
-Pre- and post-course orientations where guidelines are explained.
-Emails containing links to official Branding Guidelines and any updated terms.
-Notifications of policy updates, requiring stakeholders to acknowledge and adhere to the revised terms.
Policy Revisions
If conditions for use are updated, OWA communicates changes promptly to all stakeholders via email.
Certificate holders must review and formally acknowledge updated conditions to retain the right to use certificates, marks, and logos.
Data Protection & Confidentiality Policy
1. Purpose: This policy outlines the measures taken by the Offshore Wind Academy (OWA) to ensure the security, confidentiality, and lawful processing of personal and sensitive data. It ensures compliance with applicable data protection regulations, including but not limited to GDPR, CCPA, and U.S. privacy laws.
2. Scope: This policy applies to all OWA employees, contractors, third-party service providers, and any individuals handling confidential or personal data within the organization.
3. Definitions
Personal Data: Any information that can identify an individual, such as names, contact details, and financial information.
Sensitive Data: Includes health information, biometric data, and other legally protected personal data.
Processing: Any operation performed on personal data, including collection, storage, modification, and deletion.
4. Data Protection Principles All data must be:
-Processed lawfully, fairly, and transparently.
-Collected for specific, legitimate purposes.
-Limited to necessary data only.
-Accurate and updated regularly.
-Stored securely and protected from unauthorized access.
-Retained only for as long as necessary and disposed of securely.
5. Confidentiality Obligations
Employees and contractors must not disclose confidential data to unauthorized parties.
Personal data must only be accessed by authorized personnel.
Secure storage and encrypted transmission of sensitive data are required.
6. Data Access & Security Measures
Role-based access controls limit data access.
Multi-factor authentication is required for accessing sensitive data.
Regular security audits ensure compliance with best practices.
7. Third-Party Data Processing
Third-party vendors must comply with OWA’s data protection standards.
Contracts must define responsibilities for data security and confidentiality.
8. Data Breach Response
Any suspected or confirmed breach must be reported immediately.
The breach response team will assess and mitigate risks.
Affected parties and authorities will be notified as required by law.
9. Data Subject Rights Individuals have the right to:
-Access and request corrections to their personal data.
-Request deletion of data when appropriate.
-Object to certain types of data processing.
10. Training & Compliance
Regular data protection training for employees.
Periodic audits to verify compliance.
Non-compliance may result in disciplinary action.
11. Policy Review & Updates: This policy is reviewed periodically to ensure compliance with legal and operational requirements.
Refund and Cancellation Policy
At the Offshore Wind Academy (OWA), we strive to provide high-quality training and educational experiences. We understand that circumstances may change, and we have established the following refund and cancellation policy to ensure fairness and transparency.
1. Full Refund Eligibility
Participants are eligible for a full refund if a cancellation request is made within 24 hours of course enrollment.
2. Partial Refunds
Cancellations made after the initial 24-hour period but up to two months before the scheduled course date will be eligible for a 50% refund.
Due to program demand and the volume of preprogram preparation, no refunds will be issued if cancellation occurs less than two months before the course start date.
3. Payment Terms
Payment is due within 30 days of the invoice date.
4. No-Show Policy
If a participant does not attend the course without prior notice, no refund or credit will be provided.

Program Commercial Support & Disclosure
To ensure transparency, OWA discloses commercial support to stakeholders before and during the program. Disclosures include:
-The name of the supporting organization.
-The nature of the support (financial, in-kind, etc.).
-A statement affirming that the support does not influence program content or certificate issuance.
Anti-Discrimination
OWA is committed to ensuring all certificate program activities are conducted in a fair and equitable manner. This includes:
-Compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including nondiscrimination policies (e.g., ADA compliance)
-Providing equal access to certificate programs for all qualified participants
-Regular reviews of policies to ensure fairness, transparency, and inclusivity
Complaints & Appeals
Students and other interested parties have the right to file a complaint or appeal if they believe a decision or process was not handled fairly.
